Ok, so many a threads have been made about which motor to go with and alot of useful info has been delegated to those who were in need. However, I feel that everyone's goals are different, budget is different, and it is because of this that I come to you "all-motor one's".

Down to Specs:

Going to have 10,000$ (6,000$ for motor) to spend on my car in the fall and debating what to do. My previous car was a 93 hatch w/jdm gsr motor, so you can see why I am reluctant to go back to that. However, I am still on a tight budget with the plans I have for my car, not including the motor, so the R is seeming a bit pricey.

Plans:
All bolt-ons w/tune
Mild head work in future
No bottom end work anytime soon (still in college)

So, although the R comes stock with better pistons, camshafts, header, tranny, etc than the gsr, I could buy a gsr and use that extra money for aftermarket parts that would prove better. Although the tranny will be alot better with the R, I am just not sure if the R is worth the extra 1500-2000 dollar price tag?

What do you think?

JDM GSR or JDM R Motor
have 6000 to spend on motor, should I take the gsr and use the extra money to mod or buy an R and leave it stock?
