Default What boots for a first timer...

Hi guys and gals.

I'm trying to put together a budget suit for few free trial days at the track here.

So far I've got a Teknic perforated leather jacket with connection zipper that I will probably be hooking up to a pair of teknic thunder leather pants. I also have a pair of joe rocket speedmaster gloves.

What I am looking at now are boots. I've found a used set of A* SMX boots in my size and black. I've read some reviews, they seem to be average, but I really don't know what else to look at. I would like them to be black to match the rest of the "outfit". I also don't want to break the bank. I guess leather would be nice but not neccessary, any reccoemndations?

New Enough has some cheap Closeout boots. NE also has reviews on the boots, which may help you decide.

May as well do it right the first time, I rock sidi vert 2's, and yes they come in black. This is also a good site that reviews gear: http://www.motorcyclegearreview.com/

You should really try on the boots before you buy them. Different brands fit different size feet better then others. I have a Sidi foot which tends to fit people with wider feet better. Boots are much like helmets in that the size and shape vary from brand to brand.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering. Cause I sually wear a 10 to 11 show, and the boots I found were 10.5 so I figured I'd be okay. I also have a wide foot.

If you have wide feet, stay away from Sidi. Those A*'s probably would fit you very well. I'd go for them. Good luck and have fun.

i just got a pair of A* SMX3's and i got them a 1/2 size bigger because i know i will be riding in the cold, and will want to bundle up the feet...

they are a bit big with a thin sock, but comfy as hell, buy as you would a reg shoe... 13's woulda been prefect for me and thats what every brand "skate" shoe i wear is...

A* S-MX Plus boots in black from New Enough for a STEAL at $252.

If that is a little pricey for you, check out the Closeout deals on NE as Marmaduke said. They've got Sidi's starting at $159 and Teknic Lightning's for $119. All race boots meaning better ankle support, more padding and protection and replaceable pieces. Oh yeah and flashy colors too.
