any ideas on how to get ceramic coating off header?

Default any ideas on how to get ceramic coating off header?

well, i have to weld another o2 bung into my dc header, which is ceramic coated, and i need to get the ceramic off to weld the bung on. any ideas?

just drill it. start with a small bit and work your way up to the right size

i want it to last. think the pipe is thick enough for it?

ok cool. i just dont really see taht working, because it would still be welding to the ceramic wouldnt it? or maybe im stupid. i dont nkow.

Grind off the ceramic coating where you will install the bung. Drill the hole for the bung using successively larger bits until you get the right dimension. Then weld the bung to the bare steel. Done

Sanding it by hand is really not going to work that well and will take a long time. Try a power grinding wheel.

or like the others said a die grinder or something will easily take it off

they sure are...

but they really do reduce bay temps drastically(while its still on lol)

I don't know about that. Regardless, uncoated stainless steel keeps temperatures lower due to its low thermal conductivity.
