Default vtec not working. solenoid is fine... next step (s)?

i'm seeing plenty of oil pressure, the vtec solenoid works fine and sees power, as far as i know (tested from switch to ECU with voltmeter but will try test light tomorrow).
what are some other tests i can run? my brain is fried. ive been working on this setup for four weeks.

it's an '00 ITR harness, OBDII-> OBDI conversion harness, OBD-I GSR ecu on a GSR motor. running Hondata, etc.

take the solenoid off and make sure the screen is clean, If that doesnt work try a new pressure switch. I had the same problem and i couldnt figure it out so i flushed the oil with seafoam and put some fresh oil in and it worked again. you might have some sludge in an oil passage

not sure if you tried this yet. if you have, then excuse the post

you should try grounding the vtec solenoid then apply 12volt source to lead wire, solenoid should click.

make sure you have enough oil.
make sure the head you have on wasn't once used for ls/vtec setup, because then the oil passage hole would be plugged, everything would work but no vtec crossover, no check engine lights or anything. (had that happen to me once before)

make sure speedo is working, need to see certain speed before vtec works.
make sure temp sensor is working, need to see certain temp before vtec works.

ill post if i think of anything else.

motor worked fine before. poured oil in the motor before startup. engine was sitting a few weeks. i'll check the screen in the solenoid.
grounded out the solenoid and it clicked. that's how i know it's in working order.
as i mentioned, my oil pressure is fine, according to the pressure gauge ( 50+psi ).
temp is operating temperature.
speedo/vss works great.
TPS is at .5 volts and opens up the the required amount of voltage.

thanks. i'm assuming you are Ty or Addisson?

someone mentioned using seafoam to clear an oil passage... just wondering how that works?

was the head recently disassembled? If so did you check to see if the dowel pin under the center cam cap was still there? Also did you check to see if the oil control orifices under the cam cap closest to the timing belt were in the right place?
