what to do??????keep my LS tranny?????
i have a gsr swap im planning to put into my EF.... i dont know if i should keep the hydro ls tranny that i have...buy the hasport kit and go hydro.. and then eventually buy a gsr or itr tranny... or should i sell the ls tranny and go b16... which im havin trouble fiinding a b16 tranny in my area.....will the ls tranny really make my car that much slower??????????????????thanks
the ls tranny has very long gears...you can find all the ratios on here if you search, but yes a b16 tranny will make a noticeable difference, you lose your highway cruising speeds, it all depends on how much that matters to you, you could compromise and get a gsr trans, they are better than the ls's, and have a little better 5th gear for the highway
im thinkin about boost in the future... im pretty sure im going to keep the tranny for now.. i need to get this car running
thanks
thanks

well si for na and ls or gsr for boost is the general rule most people follow, the b16 will make you run faster either way, but you can stay in boost longer with the longer gears of the gsr or ls. IMO ls is crap compared to both, but for now it will be fine, but if you really want to get serious, a gsr or si is really the only way to go...shorter gears are always best for running faster times, plus im pretty positive the gsr and si trannies are a little stouter than the ls

VTEC motors do fine with short gearing on the freeway. After all, the ITR has basically the same bottom end as the GSR, yet uses B16A gear ratios. It's only when you mate non-VTEC motors with VTEC transmissions that you have problems on the freeway.

well i should have been a little more specific, you dont lose your highway cruising speeds, however as you move from an LS to gsr to b16 transmissions, your rpms will be slightly higher at the same mph
