Default XM radio help

i dont know whats wrong with my xm radio. i got an alpine 9811 and bought the xm reciever and Alpine adapter. well the problem is that when im listening to the radio i turn it off minutes later when i want to listen to it. it sounds like an FM radioi with no antenna., get all the channels but you hear nothing but static. does anyone have that problem? the way to fix it to disconnect the alpine adapter and connect it again it works?

I'm not sure exactly what the hell you're talking about!!!

Do you purchase an XM Direct unit? Is that what you have? Where is your XM antenna mounted??

ok i have an XM ready head unit ok, i bought the Universal XM unit and the Smart Terk Alpine adapter that connects the Head Unit to the XM unit reciver. i went to best buy returned the adapter got another one and still have the problem.
my problem is that, let say i go to the store shut down the radio, come out few minutes and all i get is static noise. The Head unit displays all the channels but all i hear is static hizzzz. the way to fix it is to wait until it works again shut it down for like 5 minutes or discconect it and connect the XM Universal unit then it works. should i return the xm unit, or could it be my head unit. the guy at best buy says it could be my head unit. i bought the head unit last year and never used the xm function until now.

I was going to suggest making sure the adaptor is plugged into the right port, but the adaptor box doesn't have a pass thru does it... I know alot of people who purhcased the actual Alpine receiver and stuck the Ai-Net cable into the input instead of the output and it would cause the channel displays, controls, etc all work, but there would be no audio.

ok there is a universal tuner box and there is an adapter looking box thing. its not an FM modulator, its an adapter box thing i belive it uses an Ainet connector.
from the little adapter there is 2 plugs that go to the unit they are both Ainet plugs exept one is femal and one is male.
I used the male plug because the plug on the back of the deck is female.

Head unit Alpine CDA9811
Adapter XMDALP100
Universal Tuner Box XMD1000
