Rings for boost? Total Seal or JE?
not everyone wants to blindly hand their car and bags of money to a shop hoping to come out with an acceptable result
as for the rings, I don't have much experience, but I have heard to stay away from total seal rings

are you going to get a Turbo or just keep asking questions about them......?
j/k (hopefully)Im going to buy the stuff to rebuild my motor when I get my tax return probably.
Well Theres 4 things I want to buy with my tax return:
Pistons/Rods
Hondata(not useful at all till I get a turbo)
Corbeau seats
ClutchNet stage 2 clutch and fly wheel
Right now I think I want to buy the pistons & rods.
I don't think I will beable to get a turbo till August though.
Atleast my motor will be built to hadle it though.
I just re-read my post. I made is it sound like Im going to have enough to get all of the stuff. I ment for it to sound like im getting enough to get one of those. Im getting just over $600, so I'll have to add a little to get the rod/pistons. I WIpoo poo WAS ENOUGH TO GET ALL OF THAT!!!!
Anyway, lets get back to the piston rings.

JE pistons don't come with rings. We include the rings with the JE pistons we sell.
First off, the reason some people think Total Seal rings are bad is because they try to use the "gapless" rings on a STREET motor. This is bad because in a daily driven motor, there NEEDS to be some blow-by. The rings do what they are intended to do, its just that people use them on the wrong application. I have Total Seal rings.. but they're the "classic ring set." Which means they're like ordinary rings (non-gapless) but made by Total Seal.

Pistons are pistons.. rings are made to fit pistons. What is so different on the cylinder sleeves of a Honda compared to a Saturn or any other car? The material is the same. What is the difference between JE pistons on a Honda than any other JE piston for another car???
WTF?? Close tolerances on a B-series motor?? When you get aftermarket pistons, you go by the tolerances that the piston manufacturer recommends. Please reevaluate your info/argument.
but they might not have redesigned them for the close tolerances of the B-Series motor. Their lack of R&D is probably where the problem lies.
"close tolerances" is a relative term... you cannot run TIGHT tolerances on a forged piston that is going to expand when it gets hot.
so you're saying you can run different tolerances for rings and pistons?? dont think so. Maybe you're talking about ring gapping.. which is a common thing for people to mess up when installing rings.
total seal rings suck. oil will drip from your exhaust pipe. when you call their tech line it will always be something that you have done and never their fault. use the je rings and you will have no problems

I have total seal extreme gapless rings on a LS motor for 2 years now I run 16pounds and I know they are the best rings out there right now I also run small gaps .014" top .011" second .
