Opinion pls, Motormounts or inserts?
After changing the timing belt and accessory belts this past week we discovered that the lower motormount on the crank side is pretty much toast. Dry rot and its basically holding on by the skin of its teeth.
Would an insert work as well or better than getting a new mount?

do they even make inserts for that part? I thought they just made inserts for the main mounts that actually support the engine. I think the one that u are talking about is the one that helps to stop the engine from shifting around. Cuz mine is pretty much dead too. Bump cuz I want to know too
My hubby found this thread last week, but we are not sure about getting the inserts or just getting a new mount.

I'll try to make this clear because this topic slighty confused me when I was looking for inserts.
The inserts are available for only the two lower torque mounts (these are located at the lower front left/right of the engine) and the rear tranny mount (behind the engine, near the oil filter). These three mounts can receive inserts. My mounts were toast and I mean gone, I could remove the mount by hand. According to the instructions included with the kit, you are supposed to use good condition mounts to begin with. However, I didnt and neither did my friend. Once you zip tie the inserts to the mounts, it holds really well and I dont see it failing any time soon. So from experience, I would say to just get the torque mount insert. Dont worry about replacing your torque mounts. The insert kit goes for about $35-50
Now as for the motor mounts, these are the two upper main mounts that are attached on the left and right side near your struts. There are no inserts for these and the only replacements are full replacements. These are usually more expensive as you have the replace the full mount and housing. These go for roughly $120-175 or so.
Now keep this in mind as well. If you are replacing the Motor mounts you can simply not use the lower front torque mounts. The aftermarket motor mounts are plenty stiff to support the engine. This also makes the engine bay look that much cleaner.
