Default K24A in 89 CRX Si

Has anyone done this? I like the high torque that this engine puts our vs. the k20 series. This engine for a car that weighs 1800lbs would be a torque monster and they are cheeper then the JDM K20A. Any thoughts?

Yeah, it's certainly been done a few times so far. You said K24A so that can mean a few different motors (TSX 200hp, CRV 160hp). The TSX engines are cheap for the moment because a trainload of TSX's wrecked and put a bunch of these motors on the market.

Either way, to answer your question, the K24's are able to be swapped. The deck height is 19mm taller than the K20's so hood clearance is definitely out of the question. You use the typical mount kits on the market, you just use a different driver side mount on the motor itself. Other than that it's a straightforward K swap. Lots of wiring, custom fuel system components, custom axles, DC TSX or Hasport header, mount kit, and more. Prepare to spend a substantial amount of cash regardless of what motor you use.

Does any one know the best place to find the TSX engine? I also want to put the Type-S K20a head on it.

If I can fix this CRX up for about $5,000 I will not be upset. I have a K series in my RSX and I like the power that it puts out. The TSX engine in the CRX would be a Screamer. I just need to know where to shop to get the parts.

Money wise about 8---10K.

Mounts 750
Axels 400
Wiring 350
Header 400
Hose adpts 200
Hood 200
Engine 5500

Add shipping and some kind of shift linkange setup and you are easyly at 8k and you get to install it yourself

Good luck

I did a little more research and I think I am going with the K24A2 (TSX) that should have plenty of torque to set you back in your seat. I will probably get a Hondata ECU, new intake, and exhaust manifold. That should put me somewhere in the ball park of 230-250hp and about 200 Lbs Ft of torque. That in an 1800lb car should be fast enough me.

The problem is that in order to set you back in your seat, you need traction. Not just is it a light car, but has a lot more low torque than B's. Honestly, B20 cr-vtec with a GT28RS would be nearly on par, but a lot cheaper, even if you had a shop do it. Reliable too, for the conservative boost you'd need for 250whp, as well as being much cheaper to fix than a K24 cr-vtec. I know you probably want NA, but be realistic, its not like a d/b series swap, its a lot of custom items.

If you have $10k burning a hole in your bank account and want some stress, by all means, don't let me stop you.

b series vs k series they both don't compare.

I have had both. They are same price as a fully built b20vtec. you can manage to get it running around 5-6 thousand.

again the tsx motor would be my choice. get an lsd tranny or get a type S get a lsd ats or something similar.

k24a2 tsx motor has so much torque. I had a k20a2 turbo I never had traction but if you learn how to drive it will be fun...

I like the K series though. I have a K20A2 in my RSX and I don't think I want to part with the K series for now.
