Default ??? about GSR DUAL STAGE INTAKE MANIFOLD

Im a d series guy. i dont know much about b series motor, but i came accross a 2000 GSR BARE intake manifold, and its got the dual stage secondary butterfly's on it.

If u had say... a b16 motor or a gsr motor with out the secondary butterfly's

wouldnt this Intake manifold be a GREAT moddification to anyone with a b series motor with a stock intake?!?!

it gives u torque at LOW END and then at 5800 (i beleive) the other valves open up so the runners are shorter the the cylender and plemun= some mad power?

am i wrong? thanks intega forum
im never in your guys section

It is made to work together with the GS-R cams, which VTEC engages at 4400rpm. Much lower than most other B-series motors. It is good for low/mid end torque but when you are looking for top end power with an agressive cam the best bet is to switch over to a single runner manifold(like the type r). These benefit much more in top end power.

OOO
i understand, so what motor setup would this be very benificial for?

i have no use for this .. can you use these manifolds and still make some good power with them, rather than a stock b16 manifold or b18 manifold?

It is beneficial for near stock B18C1s only, the rest are engineered with their specific intake manifold.... once you start modifying the motor you generally opt for an upgraded intake manifold.

the butterflies are controlled by the ecu also... youd have to run a gsr ecu or get it chipped.. or you could just jam the butterflies open but that would defeat the purpose...

They help a lot with low/mid range power and response. They DO work. dynoing back to back with the butterfiles operational and disabled, showed a big difference in low/midrange power.

if you are building a motor to rev really high, then youshould switch to an ITR/skunk2 manifold, as they breath better at high rpms. but you won't start seeing the advantages until about 6000 rpm or so.
