ok, I've got a b-series tranny that I'm trying to rebuild and I do not know the history of it. I'm not sure if its an LS,GSR or Civic Si gearbox. Can anyone help give me some pointers between the 3 that will make one stick out from another. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

easiest is to count the gears and match it to the specs of each tranny very simple to do

bseries.net had the information along time ago but its no longer posted there

 

ls uses the 4.2 fd vs the si at 4.4 and the gsr etc at 4.4 so thats one difference and the other is the si and ls use the same ring gear with its own differntial bolt pattern compared to type R or GSR

 

gotcha. Do you or does anyone know the tooth count on the ring gear??

i can tell you that trans is an ls or b16 because of the diff size and carrier bearings

Ring Gear=64
Countershaft=15

B16/GSR-4.400
Ring Gear=66
Countershaft=15
