Here's the Mike K/ProLong test...
Screw ProLong. I'm talking about the Castrol 10w30 test.
I figured since I was pulling the motor out of my 92 CX, and it had 180k miles on it, why not blow it up???
These commercials talk about running no oil on a road course w/ ProLong in it, and it lasts ok.. so I tried something similar.
When I got the CX, I changed the oil once. Drove around for like 2 weeks in the process of building my B20/B17.. drove to Tampa a few times. The oil in the motor had about 2,000 miles on it. Castrol 10w30.
The day came for me to yank the motor.
Put the car up on jackstands, drained it all. I drained the oil, but kept the filter on the block to keep it from spitting on the firewall.. but I left the drainplug out.
I also drained all the coolant and manual tranny fluid.
Started the car and let it idle.
10 minutes go by... still idling...
20 minutes go by... still idling...
30 minutes go by... still idling...
40 minutes go by... STILL IDLING.. but the temperature was creeping up.
50 minutes go by... motor is having a hard time, you can tell. White smoke is pouring out of the upper coolant neck, bottom end is starting to get loud.
53 minutes, she finally decides to die.
The motor siezed so bad that with an Ingersoll impact wrench on full tilt, and the spark plugs removed.. the motor WOULD NOT TURN OVER.
I haven't pulled the motor apart, but it was interesting to see how good Honda builds their components, and how full of sh*t ProLong is.

Shold have sprayed water and sand into the engine like the commercial LOL
Im sure the transmission had something to do with it too...
shoulda left that fluid in

Yea, it would have been interesting.. but I was ready to yank the motor. I didn't want to deal with a bunch of hot coolant, hot hoses, etc..
So I drained the coolant so I could get down to business right as soon as she broke.
Our OTHER option was to hydrolock the f**k out of it. Like seriously.
Have one person sit in the car, and peg it. Keep it bouncing off fuel cut.
Have another person at the throttle body with a hose on full blast, but kinked so it doesn't leak.
On the count of 3, release the kink in the hose. BOOOOM!
I think we'll do that to the next 1992 hybrid in Naples.

not really.
i saw a study where engines were run without oil and the average time
before lockup was about an hour.
This was to disprove/prove that one motor oil advertisement with all the engines
running in a warehouse or something

No beer until the swap was done, Will.
Alcohol is good when doing manual labor, but not technical sh*t.
I had to wire up some sh*t at the same time, and alcohol doesn't work well with solder and heat-shrink.

No, I like cats and dogs. But when I was in middle school in New Jersey, we did that to a few trout at the lake near my house.
Shove it down their throat, and release 'em back into the water.
Bubbles come up after a few seconds. LOL.
I know, I'm sick. Sorry.....
And for the record, I DID listen to Slayer and Deicide in 8th grade.
