Quick!!! What is the engine code of the 92-95 sohc vtec?
??? Mw frind is on the phone with me right now, he's test driving a 92-95 VX hatch. He wants to know the engine code of the sohc Vtec motor. The owner says it has a Vtec motor.
Both the VX and Si have VTEC. The VX has a different kind, its called VTEC-E

some sort of ecomony good gas mileage thing. The gears in the VX are really tall. It should get somthing like 40mpg.
Yeah, he was telling me the tach said 1500 RPM's when he was going 70mph in 5th gear!?!?!?!? is that possible or is there somthing wrong with the tach?
Oh i don't know about 1500.
I also don't know how different the 00 HX gearing is from a VX however, 70 mph is around 2500-2700 RPM in fifth.
Vtec-E : Efficiency. The use of two rockers and two cam lobes. One lobe is bigger than the other. Once VTEC engages, both rockers follow the larger lobe.

VTEC-E motors also use roller followers too.
If it were not for the sorry-*** gearing in the VX it might be kind of quick.

The VX is prime if you're friend is planning on a swap becauseit has VTEC, even though its VTEC-E, it still makes it alot easier to swap in a VTEC engine, if you don't believe me blame SCC. 1500 revs at 70 in 5th sounds a little far fetched though man, but I'm sure its pretty close, I think the VX was essentially the HX of the 5th gen, good luck to your friend, I hope things work out
