CHEAP FULL COILOVER SHOWDOWN!!!
Ok I wanted to start this topic just to gather info on all these products
that (imo) are prettymuch in the same league, at least as far as price goes.
I would like it if we could somehow find a clear or somewhat clear winner of the bunch.
Without having to sift through a thousand separate posts.
So i'm going to go ahead and list all the full coilovers I know of in the 500-1000 pricerange. Hopefully anyone with any info on any of these can chime in.
Just let us know which suck and which don't?
also if anyone has any that they can add, feel free to pm me and i'll update the thread
K-sport(adjustable damping) [$800]

D2 racing(adjustable damping [$800-1000]

Apollo [$700]
Omnipower/undergroundracing [$6-800]
Buddyclub(i think you can get the non adj ones for under 1000 but not 100% on that)
Tokico R (adjustable damping) [$800]
Megan Racing (adjustable damping) [$900]

Tanabe Sustec Pro S-OC Type II - ride height adjustable only and no helper spring (I would add a pic but don't want to steal off of Tanabe's webpage.)
Omni is not the same product as Underground's.
And it will definitely take more than one post to determine which coilover is right for you, or anyone.

I spoke to the ugr guy directly,
he assured me he sells the exact same product from the same manufacturer.
didnt know that about ksport/d2 though!

Also I just found out that ksport and d2 are not the same...
people please, don't just assume 2 coilvers are the same just because they look so

I didn't assume, but when D2/Ksport came out for the Nissan crowd, it was established that they both were made by the same manufacture in Taiwan... but of course they might've been wrong... where did you hear that they're not the same? Not from D2 or K Sport themselves right?
pm'd.
Anyways, I jumped on the omnipower bandwagon and went with the street coilover setup. My impression of them:
They handle very well, and the ride isn't to harsh. Here are the rates for the streets, taken from Kteller.com: F=10K - 560 ft/lbs & R=6K – 336 ft/lbs

about UGR
I was assured by UGR that their product is in fact the same thing as omnipower.
about the Ksport/D2 thing
I was assured by a distributor(who wanted to remain anonymous) that they are not the same product. And that Ksport are superior..
plus looking at the two up there, I can tell the casings are shaped completely different,
which I wouldn't expect if they were the same product.
Could be they are a different product coming from the same manufacturer?
really hard to say 100% for sure..
Honestly i'd rather hear peoples opinion on the quality of any coilover,
which were made by who is not quite as important.

Note that the lower mounts are not a fixed part of the shock on the independent height/preload adjustable coilovers, and its a fairly simple job to source out different looking mounts.
if UGR coilovers are the exact same thing as Omni coilovers....how come UGR doesnt offer the option to choose stiffness? For Omni's, you can pick street or sport setup.
i've read some posts made by UGR, doesnt seem like a trust worthy business to purchase from IMO......

I'd like to know where you are getting buddy clubs under $1000, because if they have the same quality damper as their other products, just non-adjustable... i'd go ahead and tell you right now they are probably the best. Adjustability is great, if you know how to use it. If you have a matched spring/damping combo you wont beat it.
i personally haven't heard much about k-sports, but have heard alot of positive things about D2 from nissan guys.
I have also heard alot of good things on the board about Omni's.
With just about any of these lower priced products, lets remember that the springs are probably not of the highest quality, and may sag after long term use. Also, a cheaply made damper may break down after a while, as the oil degrades inside that is.
not completely trying to discourage them, but a better quality, better manufactured product would just last you longer in the end.
EDIT:: People should start listing materials that they are made of. (powder coated steel, or aluminum or what) Seeing as steel will rust if paint/powdercoat chips or whatever.

i'd scour ebay for a set of h&r height adjustable only coilovers. you may be able to find some for ~1000. i would not buy any of the ones you listed. H&r's are fully rebuildable and use bilstein dampers. stick with a proven company
I would just go with a well known name. There are alot of brand name
full coilovers that go for under a $1000 right now. The price on coilovers has really gone down. People barely every buy shocks and springs now.
