Default can i get a sohc vtec running low 14 high 13

i have a 89 si hatchback i wanted to do a b16 swap but the way money is going now it doesnt look like its gonna happen anytime soon. i wanted to have a nice quick car by the time summer came or atleast halfway through summer so now im lookin at just swapping a sohc vtec into the car but first i wanted to know if i could get it running low 14 high 13 with out turbo i want to go all motor or if anything nitrous. i also wanted to know if the motor would need a lot of work to get it running these times. thanx

i dont normally go on this site cuz alot of people hate, people ask simple questions and everyone replies with a rude comment, like maybe with NOS you can run 13's lol! if you ef was just a sohc vtec it would be that quick maybe i 15's if lucky but you turbo it you'd probably hit high 13's if you get traction! but my buddy had a single turbo del sol and it ran 14.6 all day, with slicks it ran 13.8 and those cars are heavier than ef's his car had 7 psi and dyno'd 190 at the wheel thats a cheap way for a fast car! believe me!

dude ED chasis with a SOHC vtec can run 14s easy.... lets see i have a crx Si with a mini me. only bolt ons are invidia cat back, test pipe, dc sports intake. im running 15s with bad launch and crappy tires. add headers and a cam i know i can run mid 14s easy. there are couple guys in here running N/A ED chasis who are hitting low 14s. there is an HF with a mini me I/H/E running 14.2s so yes low 14s and high 13s is not every hard in our chasis. Del Sols are heavy as hell...and its sad that some turbo cars cant beat a N/A car with bolt ons....

sorry for the double post to lazy to go edit....b16s are so so so so very overrated. god in fact i would go as far as to say b16 N/A is a total waste of money. My brother just swapped in a b16 in his EH hatch. he spent close to 3k. i spent less then 1k converted to OBD1 and guess what we are dead even if not me faster by a lil bit. so kiddies save that extra money and get a b18....

so your would say it is worth it to do the single cam i mean i know the b16 is better but it sounds like the single cam can do some damage

no b16 really isnt all that better....lets see here...they cost average 3k for a swap. mini me cost less then 1k and you can buy all your friends lunch at the end of the mini me. mini mes are torqueir earlier. 102 lbs of torque at 2200 rpms for me. i can rev to 7200 rpms..b16 can reve to 8200s thats the only thing i envy. but yea SOHC VTEC is def worth teh bucks in our chasis

Good God, B-series this B-series that. With a little work any D series can walk on the B. I find the D alot cheaper too. I did my 130hp ZC swap for complete total $1000. The B16 I priced out was $2000. I only lost 30 HP there, yet did the swap for half the price. I think it was a good choice, one that I am still enjoying.

go with a d15b vtec from http://www.hmotorsonline.com that is one kick *** motor. or just find a d16z6. mine in a heavy si pulls 15.4 with only vtec controller and exhaust.

I have a d16z6 in my crx and my best time with crappy 0-60' time was 15.1. will dig out the slip tomorrow if you want to see it.

if I had a better clutch and some slicks... easily mid-high 14s. All I have done is I/H/E. About to add a turbo though... should be interesting.
