Qestion about pressure plate

i just wanted to know how would you tell if your pressure plate is bad.

i have never seen just a pressure plate going bad. But I suppose if the fins were screwed up the pedal would be really easy to push in. Or possibly the frction surface is bad, but then so would be your clutch. Whats the problem?
