Default Anti Theft -> Remove black box under dash ???????

Right under the steering column bolted to plastic cover under the dash on the driver side is a small black box with two cables going to it.

I unplugged it and tried starting my car with the key, and the car would not start.

Does anyone know what this box is for ? and if removing it could possibly make the car easier to hot wire ?

If you remove one of these, it will be difficult to start. Unless the thief knows what's missing and brings a paperclip. This is an older diagram, but maybe you found the starter cut relay?

No its actually not listed in that diagram, the box looks like the daytime running lights module, but i live in Australia so it cant be that as we dont have them.

when i took off my steering column surround i noticed one of the wires went to it, so im thinking it has something to do with the immobiliser, so im wondering if removing part of that system will make it easier to steal the car.

I mean car wont start without a key when its gone, but will it make it easier to hotwire ?

If you look under the plastic that has the fuse panel access you should be able to see or feel the little box.

With that attitude, why not just leave your doors unlocked with your keys in the ignition?

I was just stating the obvious. Trust me I protect my R like its my child. I have mine well protect with a garage, kill switches, auto lock, alarm with all the extras and the best protection of all, full coverage insurance. If a thief wants your car he is going to get it no matter what. All the kill switches and alarm do is protect it from the amatures.

I watched that repo show.. They towed a car from like the walmart parking lost in less then 2 min. And there weren't any cops or anything just the repo guys and people around didn't do a damn thing...This goes to show how easy it would be to steal a car.
