R6 owners... 600 mile service questions.
I just rolled over 600 on my bike and Im looking for insight on the 600 mile service. Is it something you can save money on by doing yourself? What all goes into a 600 mile service and how much should it cost? Im at 612 miles and have not done this yet, is my bike going to spontaneously combust if I ride lets say till 650 miles? Any and all input is appreciated. TIA.
its alrite, i rode mines until 1200 miles(reason being they were always busy and u need an appointment at LBMS, and then they ran out of the oil filter). no problem, they mainly change ur oil and filter and check fluids, and brakes and clutch and throttle freeplay and adjust if needed. and lube ur chain. it ended up costing me $90. u can do all that urself but i decided for the pros to de-virginize it first.
There should be a check list for the 600 mile service in your r6 manual. But mainly they do everything what sakums said and also check some bolts to see if they are still torqued to the factory spec.

I've heard this BS as well, but as long as you follow the owner's manual, it will NOT void your warranty.

Ideally...no. But we dont live in a world when the dealership looks for reasons to pay repair costs when they could blame it on you.

They check some bolts, tighten some cables and change the oil. I don't think they touch anything that they would normally cover under warranty.

I was missing my right clip on bolt after about 1000 miles. I think it fell off due to vibration. Luckily the bar was still held in place by the triple clamp.
Just make sure to torque down all the bolts regularly.
