i just bought an integra and need help
i just bought a 97 integra and i need some help fixing it. i can not figure out what is wrong with it. it has the b18b1 engine and the first cylinder has about 30 lbs per cubic inch less compersion than the other cylinders and a loud tapping noise coming out of the first cylinder, i was wondering if anybody had any ideas of what that could be.
could be the piston rings. try putting oil in the cylinder then do it. if the compression is normal after you pour oil into the cylinder, then its the piston rings.

there is no smoke coming out of the exhaust and i did buy it knowing there was a problem but i test drove it and a machanic was with me, i felt no it had no power loss and he said that the tap sounded like it was not internal, something like a wire in the alternater, so i bought the car, i got it home and had someone take a second look at it and they said it was internal , i checked almost everything that it could be external and that is where i am now, i paid 1800 for it. i think it was still worth it.
Hmmmmmm. You are probably going to have to pull off your head. It could possibly be bent valve. Pull of your PCV line off the back of your valve cover and see if it is pushing a good amount of air out of it, if so, your rings may be junk.
Im having same exact problem. i had a lot of opinions on wat it culd be, rods, pistons, valves, valve adjustment, I had another friend of mine look at it today and he told me to get the valves adjusted and if it doesnt go away then most likely i have a bent valve and to replace them. lol thats weird cuz i bought a 91 teg knowing it had a tapping noise. i paid 900 for it so i wasnt too upset cuz i think i can fix this. let me no if u get it fixed and wat u did and i'll let u no as well.
