turbo or supercharger for 2000 GSR
im planning on a $4,500 budget on my 2000 GSR and my option is to go force induction. I plan on buying the vortech supercharger but a friend insist me going turbo charge since it has more high end power. Having driven a couple turbo charge cars in the past ain't really all that because of the way it uses gas pressure to spin........so which charger should i go with?????????
I say turbo. Remember that certain aspects of the actual turbocharger are very important as to how it reacts. Things such as the AR values, type and most importantly your fuel management and tuning. Therefore a turbo is more complex but produces way more power than a supercharger.
If you're looking for something with average power gains then go with a supercharger, but if you're looking for more and something that can be customised to how you want it, go turbo. Turbo is more complex but has far more benifits

you can also set your car up with a nice turbo set up for cheaper if you kind of know what youre doing... no matter what superchargers are always going to be around 3k or so.. you could build a turbo kit for half of that...
Also, turbos use exhaust wastes, superchargers use gas, so youll get slightless less miles per gallon with a supercharger.
Id go turbo if I were you.

I say go with the JRSC high boost kit copmes with hondata S200 bigger injectors, 3 pulleys 6,10, and 11 lb. its a nice kit and dont have to go through the troubles of tuning and constantly messing with a turbo setup like most people do, i have had both setups in different cars. go to the website and shows a dyno for the GSR about 250whp. (reliability)

Superchargers are more easier to install too.

90% of the people on this board will say turbo. 50% of those people have no clue as to why and/or are just following the popular opinion. I like them both and if done properly on a "stock motor" both will work real well. There are a couple things about vortech superchargers I don't like. Especially the drive shaft. The right sized turbo can get you better power numbers but turbos are a bit harder to tune and typically are a little more fussy with heat, altitude, and humidty changes. go with what you like. I doubt you'll be upset either way. Turbos do feel faster though(even if thats not the case) while superchargers give you a nice linear power feel. Boost right at idle is nice.

Yea what he said.
Sack Master said it best, there are pros and cons to each, do some research and find out what you want.
