Help me.. spun bearing?
Need some help diagnosing the problem with my accord. Here's the deal:
I started to lose oil pressure coming home from work a few weeks ago, if my revs dipped below about 1500 rpm the oil light would come on. Got home and checked my oil, wasn't low at all.
The next morning I cam out to leave and when I started the engine it made a pretty loud knocking noise. I immediately shut it off. Since then I towed it to my dad's garage to pull it apart. First thing I noticed was that the timing belt must've skipped a couple teeth (but this shouldn't have accounted for my low oil pressure).
I drained the oil and didn't see any metal flakes, but when I dropped my oil pan I saw a couple very small shavings in it. I'm not sure if a few flakes are normal or if that's evidence of a spun bearing.
I checked for play on the connecting rods/crank bearings, there is no play. I also manually cranked the engine over, everything moves smoothly.
I think my oil pump may have went out, and a friend said that the balance shaft cap sometimes comes out. I wanted opinions before I put my oil pan back on.
Is there any way to check for a spun bearing? Anyone have any other ideas about what this may be?
Thanks!

well, low oil pressure could cause a spun bearing, if the bearings aren't lubed enough...i'm assuming the loud clicking/knocking spead up with engine speed, correct? anyways, you probably wouldn't get any play in the rod or crank if you spun a bearing..also, the metal shavings are not a good sign...
it sounds like you did spin a bearing however, so i'd say it's the result of a different problem relating to oil pressure...before rebuilding you need to investigate the problem more, or just get a new motor (since the f22's are so cheap)...

While the oil pan is off pull of the rod and main bearing caps and check for damage.

i hate to say it but from the comments you have made,, oil lite on, low end noise, metal in oil ..you got either or both rod or main bearing problems ...when pulling caps off make sure to chk the crank real good for damage
