Default Completely OT: Need some suggestions from the ITR boyeez

Some of you might remember the story I posted a little while back about how my sister was involved in a car accident. She was struck by an illegal alien with NO insurance, no driver's license, and NO RIGHT TO BE HERE IMO.

Other than that...I need some suggestions. She's negoitiated to get $5k for her totalled '94 Grand Am GT (50k miles). It was in pretty good condition actually. She wants to find something to get her monthly payments in the $150-$180 range. I used a payment calculator on Yahoo and figured if she dropped $5k down on a $13k car and @ 7.5% for 5 yrs = $177 per month...right where she needs to be.

She's in her 30's and wants a car that rides nice...nothing TOO sporty. She's needs an automatic (can't drive a stick, but I would teach her if she was willing).

Suggestions welcomed.

-Todd

That's what I was thinking. Is there anything in particular I should look for? I don't know much about Accords...but bullettproof is a good thing.

I would look for a used Accord or possibly a 4 door integra. Not too many people are looking for the 4door Tegs, so if you can find one at a dealer you should be able to get a good deal.

Dude, love your sig!
thats my dream stable

as for the accords, it depends on where you live
if you live in the northeast area, there are millions of the current generation accords coming off leases right now

Get her a Saturn. At least no one will try to steal the rims/emblems/mirrors/wing.....Hondas are the target of thieves - they are the #1 stolen car in N.America (Accord included).

Get her a late model 4-dr Teg LS model. They are peppy enough and they are built in Japan. Then, my choice would be an Accord. However, the Accords are built in the US/Canada and some of them have parts rusting really quickly for some reason. And, before you saying BS, I've owned 4 Hondas (+2 others in the Family) and the only one that was made in Canada showed some nasty rusted parts under the dash and etc. I would say that was more than a coincidence... I don't think some parts used in the US/Canada don't get the rust prevention treatment? WTH?

Other cars I would suggest with good service records are:
1. 4dr Teg LS/GS
2. Accord
3. Altima
4. Maxima
5. Camry
6. Maybe a CRV or RAV4??
