Default timing off?

my car has been running alittle hotter than normal. could it be my timing being off? i think when i had my timing belt changed they never reset my timing or set my timing after that.
any suggestions?

here is some info. new radiator (6 months old), brand new themostat (as of yesterday), new belt (timing, ac, ps, alt), radiator fan working.

its gotta be something with the cooling system. did you do an actual flush of the coolant? or just drain it and add it. also did you burp the coolant?

the timing can affect the temp... one of my integras distributor seized and it jumped time.. it would get hot at idle but when driving the temp went back to normal.. but the timing belt also powers the water pump, and its a good idea to change the water pump at the same time as the timning belt.. i doubt it could be the water pump but who knows.

its easy to check if your cam timing is correct. if it is you know that the problem lies somwhere else....

I advanced my timing today a few degrees because my car felt a little more sluggish than usual (and my car is normally pretty slow). I went out for a short drive, it definitely ran better, but when I came back, I popped the hood and noticed that the engine bay was alot hotter than usual . I know it seems like the solution to this problem is obvious, retard the timing, but it runs alot better now. Any suggestions? Will a little extra heat hurt anything? Is this a sign of a larger problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

it felt hoter in the engine bay? lol

ok unless you temp guage was higher up than normal you are not running hoter.

dont retard your timing if it runs beter now

1g teg I see you have

haha. you cant tell a small amount of temperature change by feeling the hot hair under the hood... if the temp needle reads good temp... you got good temp.

Yeah I know you can't feel the difference in temperature under the hood. Let me rephrase this. After driving less than a mile, when I opened the hood (this was also at least 10 minutes after I turned off the car), I picked up the little hood prop thing, and it was so hot I couldn't touch it for at least 5 minutes. That definitely seems a little warmer than it was before.

After going out yesterday, I watched the temp. guage and it was alright, a little hotter than normal, but alright. I'm just gonna leave it how it is, but I've definitely canned the turbo project for this car,its just too old, I don't even feel like pissing my money away on it, especially since I'm getting a 3G Integra in 3-4 months anyway.
