Default Hlep: Interior Gauge Light Problem!!

Hi you guys, just today after I came back from work, going back to the car under the hot sun, when I open the door, I heard some "Ding dong ding dong..." The warning sound to notice you didn't turn off your headlight, so I search around, I found out I did turn off the light, and nothing is abnormal from before. The inteior fuel and temperature is dim too, but it usually dim when I turn on the headlight. Well, when I got home, I've check all the low/high beam light, also turn signal and fog light... Nothing burn out...

Anyone familiar with this? The interior light won't turn back on bright anymore, and also the Ding dong ding dong....

um... could be a relay somewhere that is telling your car that the headlights are on even when there not.
if you got a 4th gen i can look through my helms, 5th gen can't help at all (4g's are better anyway lol).

and i'm guessing you searched already?

Sounds like an earthing problem. One of your ground wires is dirty / loose. Check in the kick panels by the door hinges on the floor

ok, here goes.
first did you have your lights on before work? just wondering.

my slightly educated guess is your dash dimmer control unit/relay or the dimmer adj. switch.

so here ya go straight outta the helms.you're gonna need a ohmmeter or multi meter so you can check for voltage and ohms/ continuity. you can get one at walmart or just about any store that carries car headlights/electronics for under $20.

first check the dimmer adj. switch.
1. carefully pry the switches out of the dash.
2. Disconnect the 3 wiring harnesses.
3. set your multi meter to OHMS.
4. there are 6 prongs, A-F, A is at the end that's square, F is at the end with the notch in it
5. put one probe on C (3rd from top) and the other one on E (2nd from bottom) resistance (ohms) should be between 8-12, or close. it says it will vary slightly with temperature.
6.measuer between D and E while adjusting the switch. ohms should go from 0 to 10
7. now turn the dial off (when it clicks) and check for continuity between B and F. there should be no continuity.

if any of the stuff above doesn't happen like it should, get a new switch.

now the dimmer control relay
the dimmer contol unit is behind the dash visor beside the clock.
take the speakers out of the dash, then take the screws out right above the clear part of the dash.then i think you'll be able to tell which screws are holding stuff in. you just need to get the clear plastic part out on the side with the clock. it's above the pass side air bag. it has a screw holding it in on top, some holes or dimples in it, and a wire harness going into the left side.
unplug the harness, and you should have six wires going into it.
here's how it goes: wire color, when to test, what it should do, whhat could cause it not to do what it should. one probe should be on a ground at all times, the other one on the specified colored wire.

1. Black wire. this is ground, there should ALWAYS be continuity ( 0 ohms) at any time.
Fix: bad ground or open wire

2. Red w/black stripe.
Test: with headlights/combo switch ON
For: battery voltage (~12v) when grounded
Fix: blown fuse #42 underhood, bad combo/headlight switch, open wire

3. Red
Test: with h.light/combo switch on
For: dash lights on full bright when grounded
Fix: open wire

4. Red/green or red/white
Test: adjusting dimmer dial
For: resistance/ohms between these two wires, should have 8-12 ohms at all times
Fix: bad controller, open wire

5. Red/blue and Red/white
Test: while adjusting dimmer dial
For: resistance between these two wires should go from 0-10 ohms
Fix: bad controller, opem wire

well, do these tests and post up the results. hope this helps

lol, well thats the best kind of problem to have- the kind that fixes itself!

and ludes have problems just like any other cars, but there are people out there and on here who would take a lude over a corvette or a mustang any day! something about them just brings out a whole lotta honda love lol

good luck and welcome to the lude family (cue cheesy 80's sitcom music)
