Well i have a 98 base, and i have been having some charging problems. one night i thought my alternator gave out cuz my volt meter was showing a 11.5 reading while car was running. i tried reving it but it would not go up. i replaced the alternator with an autozone one the next day, but the problem still persisted. Sometimes while driving the battery light would go off, and the CEL would turn on, and the volt meter would show a reading of around 14. then it would randomly turn of again. im not sure waht is the problem. Last nite my car practically died on me going home. i got to garage, my spedometer,tach, radar detector, nad other crpa wasnt wroking, nad my voltmeter read 7.6 as i turned the car off. Help me out here guys cuz now my car cant drive and i need it soon cuz of daily driving duties.

 

Either your alternator is screwed, or your battery is dead. Check the battery. I had the live side of my battery come off and it would randomly turn the battery light on...and **** would randomly turn off.

 

Welli already installed a new alternator from autozone, and checked my battery conections. Maybe my battery itself is old adn maybe crapped out on me. Im goin to autozone today to have it load tested. Any other ideas?

The probem sounds like the alternator. The battery only starts the car the alt keeps it going you can turn the car on and totally removed the battery from the car. I have seen alot of junk aftermarket starters and alternators go badd with in a week of purchase just an idea. Hope it works out for you.

 

well this alternator is a remanufacutured one from autozone, and comes with a 1 year warranty.

And this means what? Just because its a reman alternator doesnt mean its good

 

Problem solved boys. it was my battery-my friend plugged his yellow top to my car and it ran fine. i got a new battery from the ZONe nad now the lude runs beautifully.
