Buying a 91 CRX Si
Yep, Im a nooooob, and I did a search on here and couldnt find anything on this topic.
I might be buying a 1991 CRX Si from one of my buddies for $2000. The car has 160,000 miles on it with the stock motor, new alternator, new clutch, new exhaust.
I have worked on Hondas before with my friends, but have never owned one. I have been working on cars since I got my first one a couple years ago and I do all my own work in my shop. I havent made my final decision on it yet because I havent gotten it up on a lift to look at the underside. But I do know that it has a little rust on the exterior (not much of a problem because I plan on painting it). What features does the Si have that the other 2nd gen CRXs dont offer?
Also, is it wise to get parts like projectors, tail lights, and bodykits on Ebay for this car? Or are they not trustworthy. Thanks.

just make sure you fix the rust A.S.A.P a little rust can turn into alot real quick. believe me i know
I wouldnt buy a body kit on ebay heard they take a lot of modification to make it fit. heard lights are cheaply made and dont last or leak but thats just me get more opinions. good luck if you pick up the crx

Your not using the search function correctly. I'll list some of the items that some of the other models don't have. If we are talking completely stock here (for this specific year), Si has the sunroof, rear disc brakes, rear sway bar, more power, DX and HF don't.

for one, screw the body kit cause hopefully ur not a ricer. same with lights, neon, chrome wheels/fenders/windshielf wiper, huge spoiler, etc. etc. i hate when people go all visual - no performance, just makes me laugh.

Ha! Just because I have an avatar that says "noob"? I checked spelling on the last post and it came out flawless. Besides, I said "some" not everything.

Putting a body kit on a car, and making sure it looks good is not ricing. If you wanna win overalls at the shows, and you wanna have a car that looks good, you have to have a car that wows them. Unfortunately, as "pretty" as the 91 CRX Exterior is, I think it would look even better with a set of projectors and tail lights, and a tasteful body kit.
Im not going for all show and no go. It just needs to be completed in stages. When your on a budget, everything has to be done in a plan, or else you end up with a car that's just thrown together. The first step on this car for me just happens to be exterior mods.
For the record, I would never.. ever put chrome rims, a huge tacky wing. That is ricing. Ill post some pictures of the rex in about a week and see what you guys think.
(Is my spelling okay on this one..?)

argh projectors....i had them in my car for couple months took them off and put projectors back on adn wow stocks look so much much better. sold the projectors to some ricer on ebay for 10 bucks more then i payed for it... btw painting doesnt get rid of rust.
Well.. obviously Im not going to just paint over the rust that's on the car with spray paint. By paint the car I mean strip it, sand it down, cut out / repair areas that need fixing. Then paint.
