Difference between '05 and slightly older models?
I realize the '05 has a bit more torque, but are there any other difference between the '05 and the past few years (say to 2002)? I heard someone say that the '05 suspension is not as sporty (maybe spring rates) but that's just heresay. Any truth to that? Anything else besides the speaker being moved to a slightly different location?
I checked out a few sites and it didn't have very much to say about any differences.
Thanks!!

i guess you didn't search hard enough... there's numerous threads on here and on http://www.s2ki.com about the differences between ap1 and ap2
00-03 revs about 800 rpm higher than 04 o5, different bumpers and head/tail lights. 04-05 trans is said to be stronger. 04-05 interior doos have a touch more elbow room.
pm me if you hav any ? im a dealer lol

04-05 s2000 actually do have a lot of changes. The engine ofcourse is the obvious change from a 2.0L to a 2.2L. Power comes earlier through the rpm range and redline is reduced to 8K instead of the previous 9K. The rear diff is said to be stronger, and the gearing in the transmission has been changed. shorter gears down low but a higher top end is reached up top. the front and rear bumpers and lights have been changed, along with the lights. The cams have also been changed, and the newer one's run a bit rich. the older one's actually run a bit leaner. As far as the interior goes, other then the color changes the door panels have been improved to provide more room. The talk about the newer one's not having racing suspension is not true. The only difference the newer one's have over the older one's is that the rear spring rates were changed. Softer in the back compared to the previous, but the front remained the same. I think that covers everything.
i'd like to know what the suspension changes were for 00-03 models and 04+ models. I know they softened the shocks, but I'm pretty sure they did something else to the AP2's.
There is a hot version battles at 10k rpm video where they discuss the differences between ap1's and ap2's (both 2.0 tho). I think they said something about re-doing the suspension geometry of the control arms? From the video the AP2 did a lot better.
Anyone know exactly what they did to the suspension on 04+ models?

I believe the only changes done to the US models as far as the suspension goes were the rear springs. have not heard of the shocks being changed, but know for sure that only the rear spring rates were made softer.
just ordered the best morotring video 10K battle. Hopfully get here sometime next week. the battle between the amuse, j's, and the spoon should be fun to watch. but I really want to see the comparison of the pre-04 and new S models. Although it's not really comparing the american version because the same changes were not made to the japanese version. I'd like to see a video of both US versions being compared.
