Do you change your oil when car is cold or warm?
I read in the manual recently that the oil changes should be done after the car has been run and is already warm.....not exactly sure why but my assumption is that the oil will flow out of the oil pan easier due to change in viscosity from heat...
ive always done mine when the car has been parked overnight thinking that 1) its easier for me b/c the oil is cool and 2)most of the oil would have dropped back into the pan?
when does everyone do their oil changes...

I do mine when its been run and warmed up that way, Like you said the oil viscosity changes and I get much better flow out the drain plug, I also let it drip out for 20 minutes before refilling fresh oil
Prefer to change mine cold, since I put my arm around the manifold to remove the filter without jacking my car up, don't want to burn myself.
Warm is the best but to be honest, 1 quart remain in your engine vs 1.2 quart remain is not that big of a difference. Only like 5% longer oil life? Not worth the hazzle.

i change mine very lilttle warm. since i have to do it in my sis garage. i have to drive. i let it cool about 20min or so..when i can touch oil-fan cool enough. but i think its good when its cold so all the used oil from top of the engine sits down, just my guess. *but i just pour about half qt oil left from last oilchange.
how you change oil w/o jacking up? how you drain oil?

how do you do it without jacking your car up?
my car is lowered but i doubt even at stock heights you could really get yourself under the car. i could be wrong though

btw: how the hell they change oil? place like juffylube, henry can oil.ect ..they just change even engine is hella hot..i cant even touch the oil cap when engine is hot.lol
I change my oil with the car running.
Makes it interesting. . . then it's like a race to see if I can get more in before it all drains out.
If I lose the race. . . $3k + out the window. If I win - fresh oil.
But in all seriousness. I never even think about it. Cold, warm - whateva.
I do like the viscosity of luke-warm oil though, seems to make for a quicker drain, and therefore quicker oil change.

How can you not able to get under the car when it is not jacked up? You don't need to put your whole body under it, just use a piece of cardboard and lay down on it, then put you hand under the pan to feel where it is and just use a rachet or box wrench (so you don't strip the head) and thats it.
Oil filter is a bit tricker, unless you have skinny arm, you won't get in there, usually I put my arm under the intake manifold on the driver side, with a filter cap and rachet or use a bunch of rubber band to grip the filter and hand tight/untight it. rubberband works great.

change your oil when its warm, or hot
people like jiffy lube get burned thats how they change the oil when it is hot lol use a lot of rags when you grab the filter
your friend who went over his oil change by a few months is dumb....jiffy lube offers free top off's. All he had to do is stop in every month and have the oil level checked
just becuase the oil can last longer doesnt mean its not going to burn off or leak out.
so if u got the new mobil 1 15,000 mile oil you are just going to never check the oil level for 15,000 miles? it says on the bottle to check weekly

same here !
i just did an oil change and i do it warm. i have to say though, GSRs have the most horrible places for the oil filters and pcv valve is a b'arch!
almost all hondas have the filter in that same spot, the first time i looked for my pcv valve on my car it took me a while to find it haha and honda charges a lot for those damn things
