Default my downpipe *now with more pics*

here it is. i'm not entirely happy with it. it doesn't line up with the cat very well. i will probably modify it when i get a chance, or just make a 3" dp. i plan on replacing the cat with a section of flex pipe.

If thats the first one you've ever made I'd have to give you props on it. Otherwise, I don't know anything about welding (yet) but I'm sure the experienced.....and the vultures....will be in here soon to critique you. from me

Nice design! One question, will the hole on the flange for where the usual internal gate, now external gate, be big enough to to regulate boost? It seems much smaller than the 35/38mm open the WG is meant to see.

i made all the flanges myself. i sell them. i have a sticky in the fs forum on hmt.

as for the wg hole, it matches the port on the turbine so i think it should be ok to regulate my 9psi for now. i plan on eventually going with a 3" dp and equal length mani, i'll put the wg directly on the mani then. here are some more pics.

Great design! I like how you use an external wastegate that still utilizes the internal wastegate plumbing on the turbo, and especially like that the gasses aren't dumped to atmosphere!

You can always port out the internal gate passages in the turbo if you have spike issues, which I doubt will be a problem.

But, please keep the cat or replace it will a high-flow unit.

Do you think your going to have problems with the downpipe breaking because of no flex joint in there? Everyone i have seen has snapped at the bend because of no flex joint. But nice work anyway.

Your feed for the turbo is way to big.. unless you got a restrictor on there that turbo will get trashed quick.

the fitting on the cartridge goes from -3AN down to 1/8NPT. there is a restrictor in the brass fitting i believe as well.

here are some more pics of the crx project. for those who requested them.
fitting the intercooler was going to be a challenge, but i am up to it. i'm going to make the end tanks this weekend.

some shots of my hm cross member and modified half size rad.

i'm not too worried about the strength. i ran a similar one on it last year and sold it. square tube is actually stonger than round for not bending. i will eventually add a front engine mount again. i had one on the old setup.

Where did you buy these from ?

Also for using square tubing for the cross member, you beat me to it. Everyone uses round tubing, but square is actually stronger.

yes it is. i'm not putting it on probably until the end of summer though. i am making another intake manifold to replace the first one i made seen in these pics. i'm going to make an all new one with a sheet aluminum plenum contoured for better flow than a regular box plenum.
