Default car trouble

ok so my battery has been dead for a few weeks and i needed to get it jumped and i do but the person who jumps it puts the cables on the live battery and then switches it on my battery so the postive is on the negative and such. with me not payin attention i didn't noticed till after he hooked it up. so i thought maybe it fucked the battery up so i take the battery out of my moms car and put it on mine and nothin. someone said that i might have fried something someone else said it might be the main relay! need help asap! thanks in advanced!

Turn the car to the on position(w/ a good battery) and check the ecu. If it has a solid red light then it is toast. Another way is to remove the ecu from the car and open it and check for visible damage to any of the electronics inside.

Also when you jump start a car you want to hook the positive to the live battery and then to the positive on the dead one. Then you want to hook the negative to the live battery and then to a good ground on the dead car. Hooking the negative to the dead battery can be dangerous. Since there a is a chemical reaction taking place in the battery while charging. Water is split into Hydrogen and Oxygen. Hydrogen gas can be explosive. Therefore you want to ground the negative cable away from the battery to minimize the risk of an explosion.

Check your ECU first to see if it's showing any codes, blinking lights, solid lights, etc., then start checking your fuses, starting under the hood. Fuses are built in as "weak links" so that when something happens, they'll sacrifice themselves to save the expensive goodies.
