Can't shift into second at high RPM's
Normal driving is fine but when I am racing and pushing past 7000 rpm, The car just doesnt want to shift into second. Tonight when I raced, the first race was good, but after that I couldnt get it to go in second. Maybe air bubbles are expanding when the car is hot and ******* **** up?
yeah i have the same problem cant shift into 3rd though past 6k wont hold jsut grinds but nething lower than 5500 will hold synchros are shot

Pullig and JDM H22, its you synchros. They are a pita to replace however it can be done. I have heard arguments about just replacing the hole tranny for the cost but I am not sure. I will be replacing all of mine when I go to do a final drive swap.

First and third feel solid ( I have a short throw shifter), but second feels spongy. Even when it is not going into second , while I pull, the shifter feels like rubber. Is that what you meant by "any play"?

Its so funny that anytime anyone here hears someone talk about it not going into gear, they automatically think syncros.
The fact that you mentioned the word "spongy" points almost 90% of the blame on the shift cables, although it is usually the "up" gears that go spongy. I'd take a close look at your cables.

If it was my car, I would first change the tranny oil.
Just curious, why do people think it is the shift cables if he has a problem only when he revs over 7K???

That's because it is more likely to be your synchros than the cables.

Yeah, that's why I was wondering. I could understand if it locked him out of gear at random RPM, not above a certain RPM. Synchros is what I would think if the tranny fluid didn't fix it.

my car does the samething once in awhile and only from 1st to 2nd. i noticed by adjusting the clutch pedal it helped alleviate the problem a little, but did not fix it. i just changed my fluid and didn't fix it so i don't think that's your problem.
One more thing did come to mind (since I am looking to fix all the easy stuff Thursday) I just fix a cracked hard-line from my slave to my tranny. I bled the clutch and everything was good. However I did notice a very small leak from where I screwed the line to the tranny. I made it tighter and never saw a leak again, but the pedal was fine. Maybe a little air got in there
i have the same problem with my car, when im racing from 1st gear at 8000rpms,i cant slam it into 2nd gear, after about 3trys when rpms go down, same thing w/4th gear,i notice my car kinda vibrates,i can feel it on the floorboard, like somethings messed up,it could be clutch, cables, tranny, slave cyl,i just dont know, any info would help

maybe because we mod our cars to go faster, and of course the end result is us trying to drive the car faster to take advantage of the work we've done... what the hell do YOU expect!?!?
