Default D16y8 crank in D16z6?

I recently spun a bearing in my z6 and have access to a y8 crank for practically free, i'm curious if it will work. If so, i hear the y8 is a weaker engine, does this also apply to the crank?

Downsides?

Positives?

Thanks!

I'll wait until tomorrow, if i don't get any replies, i'll sign up to D-series.org.
