Default Help!! Accord A/C compressor bearing fell out! (n00b?)

Hey guys I was wondering if this has happend to any of you ever. I believe my bearing in my compressor has fallen out, and the compressor is broke for sure. It makes a pretty horrible, loud sound with some vibration in the engine bay. I have heard if I keep driving it, my belts will melt or become nothing or break or something (??) I need to drive it for just a day or 2 before I can take it in, or get it fixed. Is my car safe to drive for a day? Should I just drive it calm? Help if you know.

Edit: Car is an 97 accord LX 2.2 liter non-vtec

You can always remove the belt.

As far as it locking up, I have seen them lock up eventually if the bearing is bad. You will need to replace the compressor, drier and expansion valve as well as an evac & recharge. This kind of job typically runs anywhere from $800-1100.

Good luck.

unfortunatelly you cannot remove the a/c belt because in your car it also drives the alternator and if the a/c clutch bearing is falling off , the way your alt-a/c is driven by same belt you got no choise but to fix it or another option find a non factory belt that would just go from crank pulley to alternator totally bypass a/c compressor that is the cheapest way to go
