i replace the dist. and it still doesnt start.....it cranks but no spark.....does anyone have any suggestions of what else it could be?? any help appreciated

 

make sure the ignitor is mounted (grounded) correctly in the dist....

 

i'm sure you double checked your basic electrical stuff (spark plugs, sparkplug wire, fuses, etc.) is it cranking with power? check your timing belt to see if it could be slipping, it happened on my friend's car

 

have you tried the starter that might be your problem if it cranks

 

Its possible its the ecu too....just to throw that out

If you want to tow the car to livermore i have a spare pr3 u can try.

try putting it in TDC. may that will work. and also check your timing belt.

 

big pete...you did a swap on your car right??what motor??

things to look for.....code errors?? bad grounding?? timing??

If you have replaced the distributor, ignitor and checked all the wires, plugs and connections there still may be one more item that from time to time goes bad. It is the main relay. It is located up under the dash on the drivers side and looks like a black box about 3" long. Borrow one from a buddys car and see if it makes any difference.

its not upside down....it has spark...i check it today....i think it might be the main relay...my car is gettin towed to my uncles shop tomorrow....ill let you guys know what the problem is....thanks

 

well i just got my car checked and the timing belt did slip.....had spark but the belt slipped....gunna get a new belt tomorrow

 

If this solves the problem, I assume it retarded the ign a lot? The reason I ask is that my car acts extremely retarded. I have my dist advanced all the way towards the firewall as far as it will go. I am going to check it sun and try to find the probem, but it bogs and coughs when I back the dist off any.
