JDM h22 arrived - exhaust question
I got my JDM h22 from hmotorsonline and it arrived today in rather poor condition. Some of the clips I need are broken, the distributor is completely destroyed (which is ok because I am using the one from my h23), and my header could be damaged : (
I really only care about the header because I want to use it if I can otherwise its another $1400 for the exhaust I planned to get later down the road (at the end of summer) when I would actually be able to pay for it myself.
Basically it looked like the engine took some serious beating most likely from the terrible shipping service I got. I don't think the damage is from hmotorsonline because I saw my friends engine and he had no damage like this. On the other hand, his engine also had blue covers/caps on all the sensors and such... mine had none to be seen. So I think most of the physical damage came from the shipping company and not hmotorsonline, but I am not entirely sure - a lot of people had good experience with hmotorsonline so I am not going to go blaming them when it was most likely the shipping company which rescheduled the delivery 4 times for very stupid reasons (couldn't find my house, engine on wrong vehicle, etc...)
Anyhow... the two clips below the header that hold the header to the engine are completely broken. I was wondering if such damage/trama would cause damage to the header or engine that I can't see? I'll have my friend take some pics and I'll post them online tomorrow (my digital camera is broken).
My second question is, if I can use my header could I use the 2-1 pipe from my h23? I only got the 4-2 part so I have to weigh attaching the header to my h23 pipe or just buying all new exhaust (which I kind need given the condition of my h23 exhaust). I know there are some fitment issues between h22 and h23 exhausts between the header and cat... I think the cat is closer on the h22 or something. I did some research on this, couldn't quite come up with anything too conclusive.
Thanks for your feedback/help/responses!

To answer your second question... You can not use the H23 down pipe with the H22 exhaust maniford (4-2 piece). I was in the same boat that you are. I just decided to order a megan header off ebay for 100$. It's been decent so far. I had some problems, but megan took care of it.
As far as the rest of the exhaust... You can use your h23 cat and cat-back. It will work fine. You just need to enlarge the bolt-holes on the end of the header a little (once you get one for the H22).
Goodluck.
