NEED HELP ON MY REX
hi fellow rex drivers. ok...heres my story...
i bought an 87 crx 2seat hatchback si 5speed with the b15 or something like that i dont even know...im a noob to the sport and would really appreciate a path to start with. Its rear fenders are rusted, and the rear bumper support is almost gone. Also, i recently sprung an anti-freeze leak and im hopeing its the water pump that i'll be replacing tonight. very mad and ready to give up on my rex because it seems to be giving up on me. GIMME SOME ANSWERS PLEEEZ

well, i want a good clean car....kind of tuner look but nothing to exotic ya know. and then on top of that i want people to barely see my nice ride when im flyin past them. so in other words, a nice looking car, that goes fast, and is cheaper than what i can come up with

ive tried everything B16a, Lsvtec, B18c Turbo, and to tell you the truth, if i had to start all over, id go ZC turbo. its like 200 lbs lighter than the B series and you can make it faster with a turbo, and it bolts right in and plugs right in, i currently have a b16a nitrous motor in my hatch because i blew up my lsvtec on nitrous. and like i said, if i could start over, id go zc turbo
well....i heard that the ZC doesnt bolt right down into the engine compartment and i'd have to get special mounts...and re wireing is a bitch??? idk
Well, it's not a ZC, but it's pretty similar... Try an '86 or '87 Integra engine. It should drop right into your CRX, use the existing mounts and wiring, and I *think* even use the Si transmission. Probably the easiest first-gen ('84-'87) CRX swap there is. The Integra made around 117hp in the US, compared to your '87 Si's 91hp stock.

It's the D16a1 - but I've just been told by jlicrx that it's not as easy as I thought to swap it in there; you DO need the Integra transmission, axles, hubs, and so on (ECU too).
Here's what he clarified for me:

The reason I said '86 or '87 Integra is because they still used the vacuum advance on the distributor timing; the '88-'89 'Tegs went to an electronic advance. You can still put the '88-'89 engine in your first-gen, but there's a bit more wiring involved, I believe.
Your absolute best source for 1G CRX info is redpepperracing.com. All the first-gen gurus hang out there. It's where I turn to when I need help with my '87 Si...
Sorry for the misinformation on the swap. My bad.
