where is my oil?
I'm new to the forum and hondas. I have a 91 CRX SI and it's losing oil somewhere I just can't find out where. I can put oil in it and leave it overnight without driving it. when I wake up in the morning it is low in oil and it is not leaking in the driveway. the engine is clean and I don't see any leaks within the engine compartment. the car runs great and does not smoke. it has 121,000 original miles. any help will be well appreicated.
Are you parked on a level surface? If they car is running it maybe leaking from a rear or front main seal it may also be burning it. Is there any residue on the rear bumper. It doesn't make any sense that the car is losing oil and it isn't running and you can't see some sort of oil spot.

very strange. i would drain the oil to see how much is in there before i added any more. you don't want to keep adding if it's not really coming out somewhere.

i admit it, it was me. but really you should drain your oil. cause its not like your gonna lose it in the motor unless your burning it. and if you see no oil spots then im sure your not dripping it any where. also is your car running when your checking your oil or do you make sure the car is off?

I highly doubt that, but that would be funny.
As far as your problem. If your car is on a hill or any incline, that will throw off the oil stick readings. Your car should be off when checking the oil. Also, check the back of the block with a flashlight and make sure none is under the oil filter. Just make sure the oil filter ring isn't leaking. Is there any oil on the oil pan?

do you have a newer d16 engine, like one of the d16y's? i hear they tend to have this problem, where the level will disappear on the dipstick and then a few days later if you check it, the oil will show up again.
haven't heard of it in older engines, though.

if you start your car up before you check your oil, then the oil pump pumps oil into the head. then if you suddenly remember to check your oil and turn the car off to check it, there will be a 1/4 of a quart left in the head untill it totally drains back into the pan. this is happens alot for all engines. so the oil will look like it is low. remember to check your oil only when the car hasn't been started for 2 hrs or so.
