sohc obx/quaife lsd, need help
ok, i ordered a sohc obx lsd. model number lsd9200. I talked to both obx and tuningdepot (ebay store), and both said i had the correct lsd. Yet my lsd accepts 40mm bearings, and my stock diff (s20 tranny off d16z6) uses 35mm bearings.
When you guys installed your lsd's, either quiaffe or obx, you just used the stock bearings correct??? theres no special sized bearings or anything? or am i just fucked

With the D series, you always need to know if your tranny is a 40mm or 35mm. If obx only make a 40, then you are screwed for your 35 tranny.
BTW, there is no way I know of that ANYONE could tell you which tranny you had, so whoever told you the 40 was right for you, was just trying to make a sale.

i was under the impression that all ex's/si's had 40mm bearings
the vx/dx/ had 35mm bearings. I just figured i had a vx tranny on my car by accident all this time. It had a p20/a0000 on my 35mm tranny, and a p20/b0000 on my extra 40mm tranny
so your saying that some ex trannies with the same gearing have different differential bearing sizes?

it said p20/a0000, and it had 35mm bearings, it came off my ex. But I had got a new tranny put on several years ago by a shop. I guess they gave me the wrong one.
I had one that came off an si in my garage with 40mm bearings, it said p20/b0000
but sounds like earl is trying to say an ex tranny can be both

**** obx......Their customer service is horrible. Someone needs to give those guys there a wake-up call. They make no effort to help their customers. I wish someone would just firebomb that place.

ALL si/ex trannys are p20/b0000 and have 40mm bearings.
There is no such thing as a 35mm bearing ex/si tranny. Sounds like the shop that swapped your tranny screwed you. Didn't you notice any difference in the new tranny they put in?
It is also possible that someone put all the ex/si gear ratios and final drive into your 35mm bearing p20/a0000 tranny case, but that would be a pretty stupid thing to do.

hang on there before you go screwing up MORE info...........
90-91 EX sedans are 35mm, which Quaife used and fucked up all the info for the last 10+ years!
PL3/P20/P4L, it doesn't matter.........
A000 or A100 = 35mm bearings
B000/3000/6000/9000 = 40mm bearings
I cracked the code, I know.

Now you get a 88-89 tranny like this.............

have no fear, just pull a axle...........
35mm, notice the thinner axle tube........

40mm, thicker axle tube.......

looking though on a 40mm..............
