Default erratic idle

1999 civic sohc. I just replaced the head gasket and timing belt. Now I have have a real eratic idle (kinda like a vaccum leak). Everything seems to be hooked up and connected correctly, did I screw something up?

Finding this problem is next to impossible lol. I get it every once in a while. In fact mine is doing it again slightly now. do a search and you can find some suggestions.

Clean the **** out of the IACV almost 90% of idling problems come from that... i let mine soak in gumcutter for 2 hours and my idle is now fine.. The only other thing that would cause it would be a vaccum leak.

check your pcv valve. shake it if it shakes its good. if not replace it. it could cause probelms.

well not so much irratic... but if the idle bounces it's most likely just low coolant..

what do you mean by eratic idle, rough, low, loping? If it is going up and down, I had the same problem when doing a mini-me and it turned out to be a vacuum leak, I did think it was the iacv, If you think it's the iacv just unplug it when your car is idling and see what it does. If that doesn't do it(which I doen't think it will) spray some carb clean around the engine bay(especially the intake manifold gasket) and see if the idles changes. You can also sometimes hear the vacuum leak at idle. hope this helps

i swapped out my cx manifold for a ex manifold(i think?) and i have a funky idle.
it did it before the swap but not as bad.when i start the hatch its fine, but when i step on the brake it idles from 700 to 1500. if i hold the hold the brake and the clutch for 10 sec's or so it chills.
what the funk is up with that. any help will be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sounds like you've got a vacum leak to the booster... that or somewhere else on the intake...

I'd clean the IACV and check all your vacum lines.
