suspension fabrication questions.
my school has a metal shop and i can pretty muh use it for whatever i want. my friend is going to start teaching me how to mig weld this weekend. anyway i want to make strut tower braces for my del sol. i was thinking of either using square tubing or bar stock but im wondering what kind of material i should use for the bars and the brackets to keep it light but strong enough to funtion correctly.
If your just learning how to weld, use regular bar steel. I have heard that Aluminum, Chromemolly & even stainless steel are pretty difficult to weld for beginners (not that I know from my 20 minutes of welding experience).
I would use bar stock because it will be easyier to bend, and the bends will look nicer too. You should try to go for the 3 point bar that mounts to the shock towers & fire-wall. I always wanted to make one of those...

yeah i want to make a 3 point bar. i was thinking about just modifying the stock bar that i have. alluminum is harder to weld because it has to be tig welded and i wont learn that for a while. im afraid to use steel bar stock though cuz it will be really heavy.
