My prelude on the Dyno
hey guys,
well i finally got all my problems solved with my prelude, and i finaly made it to the Dyno, here are the results
this was done on a Maya Dyno with TAT sofware (#'s are alot lower than a mustang or dynapack)

196/hp 173tq @ motor before tune
206/hp 182tq @ motor after tune
let me know what you think about these numbers.
CAI AEM intake, DC headers, stock Cat, Apexi N-1 catback, VAFC on 17's

no the green line represents at the wheels the blue one is flywheel
the hp gain is not super impressive, +10 its more the fill of the gap where vtec kicks in just about....it is set at 4900, but if you check the graph there is a gain of 40 hp at around 5200, you have no idea how i feel the difference in smoothness when i drive...

i have no idea, but he was saying that you just can't compare #'s of 2 different dynos....maybe someone that really knows there stuff can help us out on this,
he was saying that type-r's read around ~ 150 at the wheels on that dyno so....

Pretty good #'s then... With boltons most R's dyno in 170-180 range on dynapaks.

well im happy with the result of how the power band feels, just before vtec i dont feel that dam huge dip and then the *tugg* it gives when vtec engages, it so smooth now and the sound is just incredible, im honnestly not the type of guy looking to beat records with an NA car...not for now anyway, i got the car with all of this on it...so i though might as well get it to its best potential...and hey, a 10 hp gain just from the vafc is fine for me...i wasent expecting much more
and just for facts the dyno read 149 whp base and then 157 whp after tune so the increase is similar from whp to hp....

Pretty good gains I would say. You cannot compare your numbers with other dynos. All you want to know is the difference you made on the SAME dyno.
I have seen the peak numbers of the same prelude with 16whp difference in two different dynos, both are dynojets.

yea at first i was worried because the whp looked really low, but looking at the total surface that i gained im pretty happy with what i got...
7-8 whp is good i find...the smoothness with out the vtec dip omg what a diff

Dont worry about the peak numbers, the most important is the torque curve of the graph. Simply because 99% of the driving time you wont see top hp figures, what makes a car fast is the torque and thats what we feel in driving. You want the torque curve to be as flat as possible, once you get that right your driveability will greatly increase.

no its not wheel torque beacuase that would mean that i have the only honda in the world that makes more toque than HP lol
its the flywheel trq....i think its the box that is too small and you just see wheel...i asked the same question to the guy im like wtf is this...and he said its engine tq

bump any more feed back on these #'s./...some fellas were given heat over the #'s being bad...i think the RPM must be off...but in all there is gain all through the power band...dont see why i would complain
thanks
thanks
