AEM Dyno Numbers
Hey Gang,
Just found this link searching around:
EDIT: I've added a link for SRI systems as well. Enjoy!
http://www.2kracing.com/inform....html
http://www.2kracing.com/information/aem_dyno.html
They're claming a 10.8 hp / 12.5 ft/lb gain over stock on a D16Y7 and 8.7 hp / 9.0 ft/lb gain on a Y8 using a CAI! There's lots of other makes and models there too.
These numbers seem pretty optimistic to me. Can anyone here vouch for and/or elaborate on these claims?

Re: AEM Dyno Numbers (crazyguy)
I'm pretty sure it's intake alone. It says "Stock dyno numbers" then "Dyno numbers w/ part installed". I'm guessing they just did a stock pull, install CAI and prolly reset battery, then did another pull. Good question tho...I agree that it's hard to believe.

Re: AEM Dyno Numbers (Swerv)
You know, in looking more closely at the different vehicles, that page has a lot of info that doesn't match up.
Example:
Honda Civic 1996-00 CX/DX/LX
95.4 HP / 103.4 ft-lb
106.2 HP / 103.4 ft-lb 10.8 HP @ 6,250 RPM / 12.5 ft-lb @ 4,000 RPM
Acura CL 2001-03 A/T Only Type-S
200.2 HP / 186.4 ft-lb
212.2 HP / 191.0 ft-lb 15 HP / 12.1 ft-lb @ 6,500 RPM
The Civc's tourque numbers are unchanged, but a 12.5 ft-lb gain is claimed. 12.5 ft-lb gain on a 1.6L non-vtec? C'mon!
With the CL the difference is clearly 12 HP, but somehow the gain is 15 HP...okay.

what they are claiming is the peak power gained. What they are showing is the final output.
This is the peak numbers.
10.8 HP @ 6,250 RPM / 12.5 ft-lb @ 4,000 RPM
15 HP / 12.1 ft-lb @ 6,500 RPM
That is where the motor gained the most difference.

Well, either way, the numbers are pretty impressive- I noticed some say CHP where others just read 'stock' and 'aem cas'. Something to keep in mind, but they may all be CHP, not WHP.
I hear a lot of people say the SRI makes yet more power than the CAI. Could I expect similar results with a SRI, or do they really fall flat in the mid-range? It would be great to hear from those who are running intakes, or have tried both types. I've searched all over, and all the threads I find are just people asking what to get, or what's best, then getting flamed for two or three pages. Let's be objective people. Help out fellow tuners with details of how your ride feels with your mods- not just "I felt a little gain". Was it only at WOT? Can you tell a difference just cruising around?
With my 2" catback/muffler setup and a drop-in K&N the engine seems like it's not working as hard- I don't have to push it to get to 35-40 around town. On the highway, 5th gear actually accellerates when I want it to, instead of having to drop to 4th to pass or climb a hill. I think an intake will benefit my setup, since I do have an exhaust and the Y7 intake tube is so narrow. Maybe that's a reason the big tube aftermarket intake put down such impressive numbers on the '98 DX.
