What went wrong? (Koni Reds / Eibach Prokit install)
So last night I took the evil dropzone coilovers w/ 3" drop and stock shocks off the front of my car. I replaced them with a set of Eibach prokit springs and Koni Red shocks. I was doing this with the hope of RAISING the car up as the roads are **** around here. After the install, the car sits about an inch LOWER than it did with the dropzones (although it rides better LOL!!!)
What the **** happened? This was supposed to raise the car, not lower it!@?!
Car = 93 Ex coupe
Shocks = Koni Reds, 92-00 Civic front
Springs = Used Eibach Prokits (~9 months) from a 96 Civic hatch
Stock Forks, mounts, etc.
Are 92-95 and 96-00 springs different lengths in the front? Have my Prokit Springs sagged like a ************? I'm going nuts because I literally have about 2 fingers of clearance between my tire and wheel well - rub like a ************ on even slight turns.
What the **** happened? I can't figure it out. Sorry if this is an idiot question, and thanks in advance.

We need to make sure that you installed the spring perches correctly too, although normally it is evidenced by the car sitting unlevel or higher than expected. The perches will look when installed just like the factory perches did. The front perch is smaller than the rear perch. When mounted correctly, it's outer lip descends down lower than the inner part so it looks a bit shaped like a bell. On the, it is a larger perch and it is shaped like a cup facing upwards with the outer diameter being above the inner diameter.
KONI HQ is in Northern KY near the Cinci airport, where are you in Cinci?

I'm going to run out to the car and snap digicam pics...
The Koni Reds only had one shock mount point unlike the 3 mount points on my Yellows... I'm 99.9% sure that I have the correct perch on the shock, and that it is mounted correctly.
I live in Clifton, dayjob by UC hospital and work at Zerolift in Fairfield part time as their tuner.

Oh yeah, I just checked a couple places online and all of them list the Eibach prokit for 92-00 hondas - there isn't any differentiation between 92-95 and 96-00.

I'm gonna throw some stock **** on tonight so I can get the car high enough to get it aligned... has 10" GSR brakes swapped on front and car hasn't been aligned with the new knuckles.
Thanks for all the responses! I really appreciate it.
I ******* hate it when project cars get turned into daily drivers unexpectedly due to hit+runs. GRRR. And I ******* hate having a shitty *** driving record so I can't afford full coverage lol.

What is the part number stamped in the body of the shocks? Obviously they are used dampers and we might want to make sure that they are properly for that car and not some other Honda that has a lower mounted perch. The part number should start with 8040-XXXX, get those other four digits.
Also looking at the pic, it looks to me like the bottom of teh shock has been pushed farther down inside the lower mount wishbone than the normal location judging by the amount of red sticking through the bottom. Most that I can think of off the top of my head end yo about flush with the bottom. With the motion ratio of the suspension, 1/4 inch or more lower at the shock would be 3/8 to 1/2 inch lower at the wheel and could be partial factor.
Check the part number on it ASAP. BTW if you need another lug nut, I have bunches of spare, used closed end Honda ones.

Don't get an alignment until you get this **** figured out. Your gonna have to get another one once you get the parts installed (unless you already gave up)...
The picture of your suspension tells a lot. You are missing the front brake bracket. You get it off the stock shock and install it on the bottom of your Koni red. The stock bracket has two functions:
1) It holds the brake line away from moving suspension parts so it doesn't get pinched.
2) It acts as a spacer between the fork and the shock bottom stop.
It is number 2 that is important here. The braket will raise your lower perch relative to the fork by about 2" which in turn will raise your front end to the correct height.

alan
