OT: Exedy Clutch destruction at Rockingham Motor Speedway
I was running the PCA club track event this past weekend and about 15 laps into the weekend the clutch decided to "not release".
I will be calling Exedy in the next few days to discuss the "warranty" on this unit....
Exedy K20A Stage I Organic
Toda Flywheel
29K miles
As you can tell from the friction material and PP surface, the clutch had plenty of life left.

Me too, but at 45K. Mine actually had the metal piece that retains the spring shear off and rub down all of the rivets and friction material

.....same thing happened to William (typer76), a local buddy who had the same exact clutch.
I wonder if Exedy is still claiming "installer error" for all of these problems?

My old Exedy clutch did the same thing. It didn't loose a spring as bad as yours, but it did have major cracks in the spring holder.
I have an ACT HDSS right now, and I think its doing the same thing
The other day my clutch pedal got really stiff and would engage and dis-engage with in the first 1/2 inch of travel. After acouple miles, it went back to normal.
Craig - Who really needs to do some work on the POS R.

Installer error! Come to think of it, this is the same installer that did the original Exedy Clucth Failure!
Jack, are you actually surprised that this happened? Considering it's happened to every we todd with the exedy I'm not surprised.
I hope this doesnt happen to mine either I havent quit put 1000 miles on my Exedy yet. I did have a centerforce that was in my SE-R several years ago do that same thing though. The springs in that situation ate up my flywheel bolts and I had to buy some knew ones which werent cheap bolts.

As did mine after about 85k miles. I think we can see a trend here...
Plenty of meat left on my disk as well.
