news on RealTime and Touring/GT?
I check like every other day to see if RealTime has listed what cars they are running in the Speed(vision) World Challenge on the entry list website (http://www.speedvisionwc.com/2002/entrylist-tc.html) and check the RealTime (www.realtimerl.com) website too. They haven't updated that site since 12/02/01 it looks like.
Anyone heard word of if they are running RSX-S's this year in Touring? And if there are going to be two NSX's in GT or not? I see there are two spots listed even though they are TBA.
anxiously awaiting....

Both of those rumors were verified when the NSXCA toured the Real Time shop during NSXPO '01 and saw the cars being prepared for 2002. Anybody want to bet me on who will win the manufacturer's championship in GT this year?

Yep! I understand PD has 6 RSXs and will be ready for the 2002 season. I believe they have been hard core in R&D over the winter. Will be interesting to see the cars when they are done. I'm sure they will have many 'Realtime' parts (i.e. Header) on the cars.
It should be back to the "good ole days" of Touring next year with a whole bunch of Acuras in the field. Other then RTR, Mirko Racing and others will have RSX-S' as well.
There will also be a 2 IS300s from Team Lexus and rumors of a couple of C-Class Mercedes. Should be a good year in Touring.

1)Yes, they are running RSXs.
one driven by PD, the other by Pierre.
This is going to be a great season! I'm in such a great mood right now - just got word not 5 minutes ago that my favorite local SOLO-2 club just secured a GREAT site after losing the good one they had for over 4 years. Plus this site is only an hour and a half away from me instead of 2.5 hours away! Yay me!

Just to clarify, I was at NSXPO '01. I only saw 1 NSX in their shop. And there was only 1 RSX-S and it was bone stock (including fluid). At the track event, they ran PD's NSX from last year, Pierre's Type-R from last year, and the bone-stock RSX-S (they didn't even change brake fluid and pads, nor did they change tires).
All the RealTime people I spoke to at that point said they didn't know if they'd be running RSXes, and that they had *just* recieved the one evaluation car.
And there was no mention one way or another whether there'd be two NSXes next year.
That was all mid october 2001.
AFAIK, the two NSXes rumor started when it was noticed that #42 and #43 were reserved for GT, and #1 was NOT reserved for touring.
As for RSXes, I don't know what the latest info is.

I for one haven't been to the shop(s) to see for myself. I can only go on what I have heard whereas these people have never been wrong before. I guess we'll see when RealTime starts the season. I would encourage those that have SCCA PRO contacts to inquire. As far as PD, I can't see him driving in anything but the GT class.
What is going to happen to the Speedvision races now that they have been bought by The Speed Channel? Is anything going to change? Any idea if The Speed Channel is going to carry the same programming or more nascar or more imports, etc... ?

I'm just happy that Motorvision and Motors Sports Mundial is still on the line up.
I wonder if Pierre will calm down a bit when he's behind the boss or if he'll push him out of the way too...
He even punted his own teamates a couple of times last year. [Modified by civicrr, 10:19 PM 2/5/2002]

That is the best way to pass, right? That is how they do it in NASCAR.

I still can't believe he pushed Plumb out of the way on the last lap of one of the races last year
PK is a very talented driver, but jeez, what a *****!

OMG - that's a little harsh. like you know him or something...
Have not others here said the same thing? Or am I supposed to say something like, "While his on track behavior might give people the wrong impression, I'm sure PK is a fine upstanding citizen, with strong ties to the community, and a deep commitment to civic involvement and charitable causes..."
What? I'm not allowed to have an opinion?
Haha, no, seriously though, you can say whatever you want about anyone - as any of us have a right to - I just think in a sport like this, calling someone a "*****" for something like that happening is just a little harsh. Harsh, that's all

And maybe I'm thinking about the wrong race, but I was thinking about the race near the end (maybe it was in the last one at atlanta) where he got a little hot on the inside and braked late, kind of sliding next to him, making him lose control. But either way, it could happen to the best of them in heated competition! That's all.
i think the race you guys are talking about was Mosport last year. it was early in the season and PK "punted" roger into the wall early in the race and then went on to "nudge" plumb just enough to get around him in the last corner for the win. it was actually a prety good race since pierre was essentally starting from the back after going off track on the first lap and went on to win. draw your own conclusions good or bad but PK is still quite an amazing driver nevertheless. we will have to see how he stands up to the big boys this year.
The opinions are because he has had a track record of punting others, etc. It wasn't just this last season. Yeah, he is really fast but .....
The worst incident was 2 or 3 years ago at Mosport when PK drilled Taz into the wall on the backstraight causing that serious crash for Harvey. That's when I changed my opinion on PK. Sure, I think he is the fastest driver in the Touring field (now that Galati is out of Touring), but I don't think he'll ever be my favorite driver in the field. But I do wish him luck as he drives a Honda.

That was '99 right? Wasn't Taz driving for DC Sports? The Galati vs RealTime vs DC rivalry had a poor Type-R punted almost every race that year.
Still my fav WC season to date. I wish they would sell DVDs of at least the YIR if not all the race broadcasts.
