Default Quick question for you Accord guys...............

I will be doing a timing belt change on a 2000 Accord DX 4 cylinder. I just wanted to know if the issue with the balancer shaft seal popping out was fixed by this year? I ask because I went to go buy all the parts at honda, and I was going to buy a retainer for the seal but it was not listed. So im guessing it got fixed by this year........I just dont want to replace it and then the damn seal pops out on my customer. So please let me know if I need to get a retainer. Thanks

I believe you're OK. The shaft seal leak thing was fixed before they built our '98 according to a dealer. I'm not aware of any newer shaft-seal issue, but that's no guarantee about it.

Got a VIN? Any dealer should be able to tell you over the phone about ANY active recalls.
