I've run them two years with Jun2 cams, portflow/ITR springs, no problems to report, max revs 8600. I've seen guys with broken Jun retainers, so it can happen to any brand , although I've never heard of a Toda one going bad.

It has long been understood that Titanium is both stronger and more brittle then steel. As a result, they are far more likely to develop stress fractures and crack vs. their steel counterparts. True they are lighter and will allow the valve train to run faster but I think it would be prudent to stick to a strict replacement schedule if you want to ensure long engine life. Remember that no engine has ever survived the failure of one of it's valve spring retainers!
I know it is not uncommon for some race teams to replace retainers (steel or titanium) after every race!
Personally I don't feel the risks are worth the rewards for a daily driven machine. Consider for a moment the fact that neither SPOON, TODA, nor MUGEN offer Ti valve retainers... WHY is that?
