OT: Who manufacturers honda's ECU's?
A third party company makes the 2000+ ITR ECU. And according to the guys at Comptech, they are unable to get access to the source to reprogram it and are unlikely to ever get this access.

anyone of a zillion board stuffers/ layout shops in japan could manufacture the hardware..
I'm betting though that Honda burns the proms themselvses on their premises, and the s/w itself is very likely developed in house. You'll have about as much luck getting that SC as you would for a Microsoft product...

If you were able to rip one apart, there might be some clues on the silkscreen of the pcb.. this might shed some light on where the [blank] board was manufactured.
dunno, you think the same facility that etches the boards, stuffs them too??
Also, look at the manufacturer of the semiconductors. There are some brands that might be more readily available in japan, and the preference would likely lean towards what is available in the domestic market. I dont know how reliable this might be as they are produced in big volumes
Connectors, switches and other hardware might shed some clues. I have found certain mfg's to have telltale components in this regard. Sony,Panasonic,Mitsu seem to have different looking stuff like this on their boards. The difference between North american and asian products is even more pronounced.
Lastly, if you can compare a Honda Ecu with another brand, you may find some similarities, differences ect...
Sorry for the babble..., answer to your Q ?? I don't know..
