D15 (seriously) motor debate
have two count 'em two d15's laying around. One in my 89 driver, and one in my 91 parts car. both have 250,000 miles on them. I have good relations with a local machine shop, so this stuff probably would be discounted.
I would like to take the block out of the 91 and have the shop bore it out a little. I'm a muscle car guy, so im not sure, but whats the standered overbore when you rebuild hondas. I'd like to rebuild that motor (mabey a bigger bore) and put a blower on it. I know that the hf motors have more compression than the si's, so my question is "if i get this motor over bored a little, would i have the screw with the piggy back unit that comes wth the jackson racing blower kit. Also I know those kits are for si's, would i have tro run an si ecu, would boring the motor to 1.6, or 1.7 make it basicly the same as a d16, but with higher compression." Just spitballin, trying to use what i got u know. I don't see any d15s bored and blown, so i figured i'd do it to be different, how stout are the d15's?

Props for being so brave
but the D15s are just crap. Small displacement, not a lot of aftermarket support (ie compared to a d16), and do you ever hear of an allmotor D15
?? They must not be all that great to build up as a performance motor.
You are better off stepping .1 L in displacement and saying hi to an all new world of performance.

d15 and a d16 is practically the same motor. your right d15 is a bit weaker due to smaller crank journals. but the aftermarket for em is EXACTLY the same. assuming you dont wanna get forged internals on that d15. theyre not ideal as a performance motor but if you got em layin around then theyll work. standard overboare is .25mm i think. check on http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com to see what is the biggest piston they sell (stock replacement)
