Default Powder Coating Weaken Rims?

I have a set of wheels that i want powder coated but heard that they might lose durability?

I've heard the same thing on Forged wheels. Depends on the temperature I believe. Hopefully someone chimes in with solid info.

very doubtful. the heat used during the process of making the wheels is likely much hotter than the heat used during the powdercoating...

ACTUALLY

The process of chrome plating a wheel weakens it, not to a point where it is a safety issue, it does weaken the wheel.


powdercoating is A-OK
in the 7 yrs i have been in th ebusiness I have never heard about powder coating damaging the wheel. Its an "electrostatic bonding" process...the only heat used is to dry/bake the finish

I will second what kineticgsr said, in the 10 years that I have been in the business, powder coating wheels does not get hot enough to change their molecular structure, but chrome plating will slightly weaken a wheel due to the chemicals used.
